Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.
This course is for people who feel a shift is happening in their lives, like one world is passing and another is trying to take form.
This generally has both an internal and external dimension: we are changing inwardly and that is taking expression in the external world, or the external world is forcing internal changes in us. No matter, what “felt right” for years may no longer be so ... a shift is at play.
Whether the shift is primarily occurring to you through external circumstances, such as losing a job; or internally, such as a strong pull toward a new direction in your life, the choice is really the same: to resist or flow, to fight or befriend.
Like a river that has been dammed but is now breaking, the water can bring devastation or opportunity. But the water and the energy from the release are pure.
There is a supreme moment of destiny calling on your life.
Your job is to feel that, to hear that, to know that.
This pull we feel can take many forms, but it generally asks us to expand our ideas of who we are and what we think is possible.
We are nursing something into existence that is not about our past. It is not about who we were ... and it is not trying to add to who we think we should be. We are instead accessing a different level of our Being.
Following this is less about trying to create some future desired state of happiness, but instead involves tending more deeply to the present moment. As we do this, we “listen” and befriend life as if it seeks to teach us.
There is a voice that doesn’t use words.
For the last 10 years, I have had the great fortune of interviewing some of the top business leaders, activists, and wisdom teachers of our age. Whether hearing about Eckhart Tolle’s awakening or the process of starting Twitter from one of its founders, there is a similar theme of following energy and trusting what is emerging. I have been learning from others and practicing this in my own life. I am now called to now support others in this process.
In this course, we will honor the practical aspects (How do I get support for an idea? How can it generate income or meet other needs?) along with the deeper life lessons, knowing it is the state of our consciousness that matters most.
We will tend to the inner domain first, knowing the less our identity needs something to succeed, the more likely its chances of success. In this way, we are not so much “trying to create something” but we are sitting with our resistance and not knowing, and seeing what shows itself from that. Life is the teacher.
How to Apply
If there is resonance with these words, please apply. The course will include 3 in-person group weekends in Santa Cruz, guest calls, small circles, and group meditations. While eventually we would like to offer this course online, initially it is only offered via these in person retreats.
Applications have now closed! email email@example.com for more info.

The Shift Q & A
What Will I Learn?
We will initially dive into the inner dimension, since as Einstein said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” No matter what we want to bring forth into the world, the inner dimension is always primary. We will then bring attention to the outer dimension, exploring the forms of our effort, finding and receiving support, identifying our tribe, and the nuts and bolts of bringing an idea into the world.
Do I Need a Project in Development?
No, only that you feel a shift in your life. You may already have embarked on an effort … or are pondering doing so … or simply feel a strong resonance and wish to see what may arise through the course.
How will I know if I succeed and it was worth it?
I don’t know. We are focused on a process and are trusting outcomes. We are not trying to get you to “find your voice” or “make an impact on the world.” The focus is instead on listening, tending, and supporting. It is not that I do not care about results, I love results, but I know the best results, often far more than anything we could have managed, occur when our full attention is in the process.
What Skills Will I Learn?
Learning to listen to and engage with life.
Will Everyone Have Similar Projects?
No. The efforts that are moving through those in the group may differ significantly, but the process is always the same: sensing, allowing, tuning in, listening, naming our edges and going towards instead of away.
You may want to create the next Google or simply follow your passion to learn how to dance … or learn to do nothing and be OK with that. What matters is that your energy is drawn to it.
Who is this for?
Anyone who feels the pull and for whom this makes sense to them.
I don’t think we need more of any particular vocation. We do not need more engineers or more mindfulness teachers per se … The world needs us knowing what is true for us, and receiving and allowing things to come from the inside out, not the outside in.
Should I Apply? How Do I Know This is Right for Me?
If the description makes no sense to you, this course is likely not right for you at this time. Or if you feel the need to have very specific goals and are dead set on meeting them, this is also not likely right, as we will follow a more organic process. There are many other options you have for that other kind of approach.
Please only apply if there is a very strong resonance with this invitation.
What is the Process for Selecting Participants?
I will look over the applications, and likely interview people, then see where there are the best fits. If you are not chosen, it does not say anything about you as a person or the worthiness of your efforts in the world. It only means that we are either already full or your particular approach we may not be able to support.
We are limiting this to 30 people, so depending on how many people apply, we may only be able to take a certain amount.
What Are the Dates of the Retreats?
Can I Apply for a Scholarship?
Yes, please do so here. We only have space for a small number of attendees.
What Do Costs Cover?
Teachings, groups, support, etc. Travel and housing for the retreats is not included and is up to each participant.
Thanks for your time!
